Meghrigian Institute is an institute within the Center for
Health Services Research and Development of the College of
Health Sciences. As such, the local staff is supported and
guided by a team of resident and US-based expatriate public
health and health communication experts. Expatriate faculty
and staff are typically involved in the conceptualization
of projects, providing technical guidance, mentoring of local
staff, assisting in data analysis, and editing final reports
in English.

In addition, a team of local eye care specialists is hired
on a project-by-project basis. As such, Meghrigian Institute’s projects
are organized to make maximal use of locally trained eye care
professionals with minimal oversight and guidance by expatriate
faculty and consultants. The range of responsibilities of
local eye care professionals varies and includes development
of the examination procedures, conducting eye examinations,
and supervision of clinical aspects of the studies
